The Quiet EccentricCanadaAge: Under 18Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Enjoyable.June 3, 2014The Quiet EccentricCanadaAge: Under 18Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 3Meets Expectations: 5I found this book at a second hand store, and I didn't really expect a lot from it. After reading it, I can tell you that I liked it. Didn't hate it, didn't love it, just liked it.
It's refreshing to find a story that's well written, suspenseful and sprinkled with a decent amount of romance and mystery. The flashbacks brought a nice variety to the book and each of the characters were relatively well developed.
So ya, it was good. I personally wanted to hear some of the story from Cole's point of view. I find it brings a lot more depth to the story when you get a glimpse from the male prospective, but other then that, I was pleased. I'm glad this book is on my shelf, but I'm also glad I didn't pay a whole lot for it.
I recommend this novel to all you titanic lovers, history buffs and basically those who just want a good read. Enjoy :)
JaniceEdmonton, AlbertaAge: 45-54Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5A decent and entertaining murder mysteryJanuary 27, 2014JaniceEdmonton, AlbertaAge: 45-54Gender: femaleI enjoyed this easy reading story. I am a fan of murder mysteries, and this book did not disappoint. I also liked that the author flipped from present day to the past.
LisaVirginia BeachGender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Heart of TitanicMarch 5, 2013LisaVirginia BeachGender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4With all the stories and movies about Titanic, at times, I feel, we can get lost in the sensationalism of the tragedy and forget the lives that were impacted on that day. This book envelops the reader in a close relationship between two cousins who were as close as sisters when the setting flashes to the past (the plot jumps between past and present). It gives one pause to reflect on those who were lost that night and how the survivors continued on with life but never forgot the past or their loved ones lost.
The book, because it involves a financial company, has a lot of financial jargon related to stocks and bonds but it is relatively easy to follow. Cole Thornton's character, although a vital part of the plot, does not come into play until halfway through the book (the review made it seem that this character was there from the start).
Overall, a good read. :)
