Product Description

This series of letters between Northern pastor Dr. Frances Wayland and Southern pastor Dr. Richard Fuller was ran in the Christian Reflector in late 1844 and early 1845. Offering opposing, though still moderate, viewpoints on the "peculiar institution" of slavery, Wayland's letters were printed first, followed by Dr. Fullers, and ended with a closing letter from Wayland. Basing their arguments on scripture, and filled with details about their views on the abolitionist and pro-slavery movements, this is a fascinating look into two minds in the middle of the issue of slavery.

This edition features the original text, with the addition of further explanation for abbreviated footnotes. 203 pages, hardcover with dust jacket.
