In Love Does, Goff shares remarkable stories from his life and shows how living and loving to the fullest is the best way to make Jesus known in this world. Whether you've travelled to meet dozens of world leaders with your kids, and started a school in Uganda like Goff, or are simply seeking a new perspective on the Christian life, you'll learn that love is a verb, not just a feeling. Goff's insights and joyful reflections will help you discover what it means to live as Howard Thurman intended when he said, "Don't ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive."

Now a New York Times Bestseller!
As a college student he spent 16 days in the Pacific Ocean with five guys and a crate of canned meat. As a father he took his kids on a world tour to eat ice cream with heads of state. He made friends in Uganda, and they liked him so much he became the Ugandan consul. He pursued his wife for three years before she agreed to date him. His grades weren't good enough to get into law school, so he sat on a bench outside the Deans office for seven days until they finally let him enroll.
Bob Goff has become something of a legend, and his friends consider him the world's best-kept secret. Those same friends have long insisted he write a book. What follows are paradigm shifts, musings, and stories from one of the worlds most delightfully engaging and winsome people. What fuels his impact? Love. But it's not the kind of love that stops at thoughts and feelings. Bob's love takes action. Bob believes Love Does.
When Love Does, life gets interesting. Each day turns into a hilarious, whimsical, meaningful chance that makes faith simple and real. Each chapter is a story that forms a book, a life. And this is one life you don't want to miss.
Light and fun, unique and profound, the lessons drawn from Bob's life and attitude just might inspire you to be secretly incredible, too.
If this book does not make your heart beat faster, book the next flight to Mayo Clinic! --Bill Hybels, Senior Pastor, Willow Creek Community Church, Chairman, Willow Creek Association
Bob Goff is a one-man tsunami of grace, a hurricane of love. He doesn't just talk about change, he really is change, as Love Does chronicles in such a vivid way. Yet, Love Does doesn't leave you feeling like you want to celebrate its author, it awakens a sense deep within that you, too, have an outrageous role to play in God's unfolding story or rescue and repair. --Louie Giglio, Passion Conferences/Passion City Church
An interesting and compelling story (with Young Life roots) that ends with a practical challenge and punch: love does and God can use you to do it! --Denny Rydberg, President, Young Life
Every once in a while someone like Bob Goff shows up to remind us that some things matter a lot more than others. Love Does has a kind of north star effect that will push you to refocus your life and energy on what is most significant. It doesn't just invite you to respond with your God-given potential, it invites you to become a part of what God can do beyond your potential. --Reggie Joiner, Founder and CEO of Orange
We liked the book a lot. Mostly, the balloons on the cover. The rest was pretty good too. Lots of stories about how God helps us. --Aedan, Asher and Skye Peterson ages 13, 12 and 9
This may look like a book. Its not. It is an invitation to enter into the greatest adventure you have ever knownyour life as it was meant to be lived. Hang on! --Michael Hyatt, Author, Platform: Get Noticed in a Noisy World, MichaelHyatt.com

"We really liked the book. Especially, the part about Tom Sawyer Island. I think it's really cool how Bob takes things from real life and compares it to what God and Jesus do."
Livi, Jonah and Ben Goodgame ages 11, 8 and 4
"I love this book!! Read it only if you dare to be inspired to have more fun, adventures, and the courage to live life to your fullest potential!! Love does delivers on so many levelspart memoir, part call to action, all spiritual journey, and so well-written you won't be able to put it down."
Darla K. Anderson Senior Producer, Pixar Animation Studios (and Bob Goff co-conspirator of many adventures and antics)
"Love Does a book title and personal manifesto wrapped into one. Bob Goff just 'does love,' and on that path he sets others free to find themselves, to take courage, to make their mark, to pursue an adventure. Like all good books, Love Does feels like a conversation with the author a real talk about things that matter. Goff's book is a deep dive into a world with rough edges, where sentimentality and pithy remarks have no hold. The passages in Love Does stay close long after you turn the last page."
David Batstone President, Not For Sale "I would steal Bob's life if I could. His tenacious love of the unlovable, his courage to kick collective wisdom to the curb, and his infectious belief in what's possible make him the man I want to be. Love Does is a beautiful and dangerous gift to all dreamers, misfits, and whimsy world-changers."

George Tsereteli, Deputy Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, (former Russian Republic) "If all people loved the way Bob Goff loves all people, the world would change overnight. In this book, he reminds us of the truest virtue the kingdom calls us to practice: Love Does. It's active. The Jesus we serve is surprising and subversive. Bob knows this because he himself is both paradoxically wise as a wizard and as joy-filled as a toddler."
Jason Russell Co-founder of Invisible Children
"There are some nasty rumors out there about treasure. Mostly that's it's buried and needs discovering. Or has to be mined. Or can only be located with a map and a big X. Not so, says the life of Bob Goff. Living from the center of your heart doesn't have to be complicated or elusive. Love just wakes up in the morning and gets busy loving. The treasure is sitting right there next to the pancakes. About 5 pages in, I knew my life and I were gonna have words."

K J1 Stars Out Of 5Does not align with the Bible, explained belowFebruary 11, 2015K JLove Does - Bob Goff in REVIEW
On the front cover along with the title it reads: 'Discover a secretly incredible life in an ordinary world.' This book was given to me and in reading the above line, my instant question was, "Could I be missing something? I was disappointed
Bob Goff's experiences and thoughts about the church and about God represent much less than half of the Bibles truth and worse mislead (read on). If you want a man's opinion about Jesus and the church, you might want to read the book. The author uses NO Bible references to support his thoughts. He definitely has had unique experiences and applies his interpreted lessons to them.
If you honestly want to know Jesus and His amazing life and promises; Matthew, Mark, Luke and John will give specific first person quotes and descriptions of exactly how and why Jesus lived among men. John 14:7 If you really know me, you will know my Father as well John 14:11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves. John 14:6 - Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
In the following are some of the authors quotes and his applications followed by contrasting Biblical references. The comments in parenthesis are mostly contextual quotes from the Bible (NIV) on the same subject. Sometimes when there are multiple similar applicable verses, for brevity I supplied just references. The first out of sequence paragraph below is the core of why this book does not align cohesively with Gods Holy Word. I gasped and staggered when I read the words. Judge for yourself.
Page 199 What's up with equating "Bible study" with knowing God anyway? (Consider:
How else does one learn the vital truth necessary for salvation except to study the Bible? See John 14:6 above; John 8:24 - I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am he, you will indeed die in your sins. The apostle Peter echoed in Acts 4:12, Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved. Paul echoed the same in I Timothy 2:5, For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus The New Testament specifies that no one can know God the Father except through the person of Jesus Christ. John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 1 John 1:14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us 2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness. John 6:63 The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you - they are full of the Spirit and life. John 6:68 Simon Peter answered him, Lord, You have the words of eternal life, Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword Luke 4:4/Duet. 8:3 man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. Proverbs 2:1-2 store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding. 2 Peter 1:2-3 2; Romans 10:17; 2 Peter 1:9; Psalm 119:9; Psalm 119:11; Psalm 119:10; 2 Timothy 2:15;Deuteronomy 11:18-19 Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; Timothy 4:11 Command and teach these things.. Acts 5:42; Matthew 28:20; John 13:17; Proverbs 16:20; James 1:22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Romans 12:2 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, Peter 2:2 Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, Romans 8:5-6 5; Ephesians 6:11-17 Put on the full armor of God, 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. John 8:28-32 So Jesus said, When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he and that I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me. 31 If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. John 14:23-24 Jesus replied, Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching24 Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me. Revelation 1:3 Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.
Page 38 What God really wants for us is something much different, something more tailored to us. (Rather conformed to Jesus - Philippians 2:5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; 7 rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death even death on a cross!
Page 81 life can be like a sweepstakes, one where you must be present to win. (Contrarily Mark 8:34 Jesus said: Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. Luke 9:23, I Peter 2:21 because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.)
Page 89 I used to think I needed to sacrifice for God, but now I know faith is like a game of Bigger and Better. (To the contrary - Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. See too page 81 references above and page 102 below. )
Page 93 Jesuswants us to bring all of the faith we have to Him, even if it's just a dime's worth. (We have no faith of our own. Ephesians 2:8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God. Romans 10:17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.)
Page 101 What I like about Jesus is that He didn't try to recruit people or use spin. He just invited them to follow Him. or the number of people He was going to have "pray the prayer" to accept Him. (John 3:3 Jesus replied, Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again. John 3:7 You should not be surprised at my saying, You must be born again. )
Page 101 continued - He didn't present God's plan like a prospectus promising a return on investment (Matthew 7:13 - Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.)
Page 102 He wanted them to write their lives better. (Romans 12:1 - Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of Gods mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to Godthis is your true and proper worship. John 5:19; John 5:30 I seek not to please myself but him who sent me. John 8:28 - John 15:5 - I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing,)
Page 112 - "Jesus was always taking about a reverse economy. He talked about how if you want to receive, you give." We have more power than we think to make our own rules about life to live out the economy that Jesus put in place. (Using an ulterior agenda such as giving to get is the motive to use the name of God for our purpose. He said to them, You are the ones who justify yourselves in the eyes of others, but God knows your hearts. What people value highly is detestable in Gods sight. I Corinthians 13:3, I John 4:46; 1 Corinthians 1:27. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.
Page 181 You want a mission statement..."Be awesome." (In Jesus words - Matthew 16:24 - Then Jesus said to his disciples, Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. Mark 8:34, Luke 9:23, Luke 14:27 John 19:17; 2 Corinthians 10:18 For it is not he who commends himself that is approved, but he whom the Lord commends. In Pauls words 1 Corinthians 1:18. Galatians 6:14; John 15:14 If you love me, you will keep my commandments. Psalms 40:4 How blessed is the man who has made the LORD his trust, And has not turned to the proud, nor to those who lapse into falsehood.
Page 195 It sounds an awful lot like God is calling us out and telling us to pick a fight. He wants us to pick a fight and He also wants us to pick Him. (If picking a fight is your motive, you are missing the love. Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Luke 6:29, Matthew 25:40 - The King will reply, Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me. The recommended motive was not to pick a fight but to help the helpless. Isaiah 55:8 - 9)
Page 196 Picking a fight isn't neat either. It sounds an awful lot like the kind fight Jesus took on for us when He called out death for us and won. (The Pharisees attacked Jesus because He acted in love, angering them because it revealed their motives. He did NOT fight but surrendered. John 18:36 - 37 ... 2 Corinthians 4:5 7; I Thessalonians 1:5 - because our gospel came to you not simply with words but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake.)
Page 199 - we read what God has to say and then focus all of our attention on what we are going to do about it.- (2 Corinthians 3:5 - Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God.. Isaiah 54:6 - Matthew 5:20; 2 Corinthians 3:5; 2 Corinthians 10:12 - We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise.
Christy Bower5 Stars Out Of 5Love isnt a warm feeling. Love isnt a good idea. Love does.January 24, 2015Christy BowerQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5You will love to read this book. Its basically a collection of short stories from Bob Goffs life and the predicaments he gets into or the amazing things he has been able to do. Half the time I was laughing so hard I was crying and the other half I was deeply touched. Bob has the winsome quality of a child who is not afraid to ask BIG. He says yes to everything possible. And his audacity has opened such incredible doors that sometimes he thinks its a prank (such as when he was asked to become Honorary Consul for the Republic of Uganda to the United States).
Id love to recount some of Bobs stories, but I really want you to read this book for yourself. I could barely put it down. But its not just a collection of humorous and heartwarming stories; the stories serve as powerful examples of what is possible when we surrender our lives to showing Gods love to others. Love isnt a warm feeling. Love isnt a good idea. Love does. Love takes action.
I want to live a life that takes risks for God. I want to live a life God can use because Im available and willing to do love. I want to begin saying yes to God.
The book closes with the question: What does God want me to do next?
Ill let you answer for yourself after you read the book.
