Sarah COwensboro, KYAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Great for techno kids!October 13, 2011Sarah COwensboro, KYAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for Robot Wars: Death Trap, Book One.I can't say enough good things about this series! We have a 10 year old boy that loves to read, but find it difficult to obtain clean fiction to fill the need. If we do, it's always the same old kinds of themes. We do love fantasy like CS Lewis, and historical fiction, but were looking for something different. This series fit the bill! My son and husband especially love gadgets and robots which made it a great pick for our family to read together. It was interesting to think of what it might be like to live in space and follow Tyce as he goes through one difficult situation after another, all while learning how to trust the Lord. A couple of cautions: as the series goes on, the situations do become more intense--sometimes a maybe little harder to digest emotionally for a young person (in my opinion). Also, this book contains a fair amount of political issues (world organizations, double agent type characters, etc) which may require either prior knowledge of those sorts of things, or some explaining on the part of the parent. For these reasons, I would recommend this for children no younger than 10-- older would be better. Having said all that, I think the Robot Wars books are on our "favorites" list.

M. Drews5 Stars Out Of 5December 10, 2009M. DrewsThis review was written for Robot Wars: Death Trap, Book One.I am always looking for good books that will capture the interest of my 8 and 10 year old boys. It was perfect timing when Tyndale sent me a copy of "Death Trap" to review. This book drew them in from the very beginning. The title alone makes them want to give the book a shot (and not be intimidated by the lack of pictures or number of pages). I was very surprised when my 10yo finished this 257 page book in only 2 days! The relationships between the characters and the exciting plot make this book enjoyable for the older kid set and parents as well. I personally enjoyed reading about Tyce's adventure and appreciate how his struggle to believe in God was woven into the story in a subtle and natural manner. There was no overt religiosity or preaching, but rather a plain and personal reconciliation of faith and science in the different characters. We will definitely be purchasing the other books in the Robot Wars series!

rlighthousePAAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Great BookAugust 20, 2014rlighthousePAAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for Robot Wars: Death Trap, Book One.This was the first science fiction book that I read and I really enjoyed it. Tyce is the first child born on the Mars colony and he is writing journals while there so that others can hear about his experiences in case something happens to him and the rest of the colony. He is paralyzed from the waist down and since everyone on the Mars colony has to have a purpose his is to control a robot on Mars.

HomeSchool Mom of 4The Hot Dry DesertAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Really Cool, Totally Boyish FictionAugust 11, 2014HomeSchool Mom of 4The Hot Dry DesertAge: 25-34Gender: femaleThis review was written for Robot Wars: Death Trap, Book One.I read this book in an effort to find something cool for my son to read when he's a little older. He's currently 7 and, while this would be a bit over his head, he's going to love this series in a couple years! The book gripped me from the start, as the story was being told from a robot's point of view. It was a great way to hook the reader! As the story slowly unfolded, the main character was an incredibly likable kid... flaws and all. I don't want to give away too much of the story, but if you've got a preteen son, I'm sure he'd enjoy this series! I have to say, I've seen some boys series that are just not cool enough (too sissified, to be precise)--we need more all-out boyish stuff like this!

Amy CVAAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Death TrapJuly 12, 2014Amy CVAAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for Robot Wars: Death Trap, Book One.Death Trap is an interesting sci fi book. I loved Tyce, the first to be born on Mars. He was such a bright teenager. I loved how the author used his imagination on how life would be like living on Mars in the future. I found the book to be funny at times. A great book for middle schoolers. 5 stars.
