Book 2 in the Finding Sanctuary series by Nancy Mehl, Deadly Echoes, is a suspenseful tale of murder and faith. The murder of her parents nearly twenty years before has haunted Sarah, but she is finally finding peace and purpose as a teacher in a small town. She and her sister, Hannah, had survived the attack in which their parents had died. Hannah was adopted, and Sarah was placed in several foster homes. They had become separated, but when the story begins, they had recently found each other, and Sarah had been introduced to a niece that she had not known. Her feelings of peace and happiness are shortlived, however, when Deputy Sheriff, Paul Gleason, brings news of her sisters murder. Immediately she sends for her niece to live with her and the wonderful woman, Janet, who had provided her last, secure foster home. Cicelys arrival to the household brings challenges, and Sarahs resurfacing suspicions about their parents deaths years ago causes her great unrest and fear. Hannahs murder was just too similar to their parents deaths, and since the case had not been resolved, Sarah starts investigating with the help of local Sheriff, Paul Gleason, and a Kansas City detective. As they poke around in the two cases, someone clearly does not want an investigation into either unresolved case. The author has written a very riveting story with twists and turns and appealing characters. I recommend this book to all mystery fans. I received this book through TBCN in exchange for an honest review.

She lived through one tragedy when she was a child, but can she endure this one ? Sarah soon finds out that the murders of her parents may also be connected to another death in her family. She begins to do her own investigating when it seems that the police in Kansas try to blame her sisters death on a drug dealer.

As Sarah starts to go through her sisters papers, she soon finds out that her sister , Hannah had found evidence of who was behind their parents deaths. Is this why Hannah was killed? Sarah must deal with her death, take her niece to live with her and figure out who to trust.

This is such a well written story that has everything a mystery reader wants. Sarah isn't sure who to trust. She has Tom who has come to care very deeply for her and she has several law enforcement officers who convince her they are doing everything to help convict the person they arrested for her sisters murder. Sarah knows that God is right there with her and he will see justice prevail. A must read !!!!!!

In Deadly Echoes, we return once again to the quaint, predominantly Mennonite community of Sanctuary -- with its small town charm, old-timey cafes, and friendly, helpful townsfolk. Many come to Sanctuary for a simpler lifestyle; still others as a refuge from their past. But under the guise of this seemingly idyllic little town lays something invisible...sinister...and deadly.

Sarah Miller has finally found contentment and a semblance of peace from the echoes of her past, with the exception of reoccurring nightmares of her parents' murder when she was six years old. She loves teaching the local school in Sanctuary, and is filled with joy when reunited with her sister, Hannah, whom she had become separated from when her parents died. Her happiness is short lived, however, when Deputy Sheriff Paul Gleason informs her that Hannah has been killed. When Sarah starts discovering circumstances of her sister's death that are bizarrely similar to her parents' murder, she enlists Paul's aid to help her dig deeper into finding her family's killer. As her attraction to Paul grows, so does her obsession in finding the truth. Will it be Sarah's undoing and also bring danger to those she loves?...as someone will stop at nothing to keep the truth from surfacing...perhaps even kill again.

This novel is an absolute suspense lover's dream with just a smidgeon of romance! I love whodunits, but it took this amateur sleuth quite awhile to compile enough evidence to figure this one out and I trusted no one except for Sarah's best friend, Janet. ;) Kudos to the author for having an imperfect heroine who battles self-esteem issues as a result of her childhood, and her subsequent healing---both emotionally and spiritually. This message will resonate with many readers who struggle with an inferiority complex as a result of their past. Ms. Mehl's use of descriptive imagery and the mysterious aura of the cozy, small town setting of Sanctuary draw the reader in and won't let go...even after that last satisfying page is turned. And believe me, you will be madly flipping those pages and burning the midnight oil trying to help Sarah figure it all out! Nancy Mehl has set the bar high for 2015 contemporary suspense!

I was given a copy of this novel by Bethany House in exchange for my honest opinion.

Deadly Echoes is Book 2 in the Finding Sanctuary Series. It can be read as a stand alone but I think it is best appreciated if read as a series. Sarah Miller has settled in Sanctuary to take care of her neice. She finds out her sister was murdered in the same way her parents were. Things begin to get a bit scary for her and her neice. It is hard to decide who is trustworthy. It is a good balance of suspense, romance, mystery, and has a spiritual aspect to it also.

I received the book from the Book Club Network in exchange for my honest opinion.

This was so fantastic. There was so much suspense and of course a tad of romance. Sarah and Paul are perfect for each other. It would be hard to go from a single person to needing to care for your sisters daughter. I really look forward to the next book in this series and any other book that Nancy Mehl writes. I received this book from Bethany House for a fair and honest opinion.
