Damascus Countdown is a fictionalized account of a war between Israel and much of the rest of the Middle East, which has banded together to form an alliance called the Caliphate. Eerily, it could very well be telling the story of todays conflict as much as a fictional future conflict, as it deals with the issues of the justice of preemptive strikes and civilian injuries and casualties, and the reaction of non-involved countries and their dilemma of joining a war thats not their own. But when a significant part of the world is at war, can any other caring nation claim to be noninvolved?

This is the 3rd and final installment of series of international thrillers by this author, but I had no difficulty jumping in at the end and understanding the story. There are about a half-dozen storylines, one from each country, running simultaneously, but they are well headlined to avoid confusion. The characters were wonderfully detailed, even in brief scenarios, so that they were very relatable (in some places, in a detestable way). This was a compelling, hard-to-put-down read that kept me on the edge of my seat to the very end. A must-read!

This review was written for Damascus Countdown, The Twelfth Imam Series #3.
This thrilling story takes place in Israel, the U.S., Iran and Syria and it involves a United States CIA agent David Shirazi working with his Agency handler Jack Zalinsky trying to save Israel from attacks by Iran and Syria. To help you track the constantly shifting scenes, the city and country are in bold print at the top of each section. David made the perfect undercover agent because he looked and talked like an Iranian. In Iran, the Twelfth Imam Mahdi was not pleased with the way the war was going, especially since they had 8 nuclear warheads and now they only have 2. But neither was David pleased because Iran still had two nuclear warheads. However he had developed a relationship with Dr. Birjandi, an aging professor and advisor of the Iranian regime. Through him David had tracked down Malik, the best nuclear scientist, persuaded him to defect, and gotten him out of Iran. Another scientist David had captured and sent out of Iran to the U.S. Israel was being attacked constantly by so many missiles that they could only stop about 80%. Schools, apartment buildings, shopping centers, a hotel and even the nuclear plant were hit. From that point on David was constantly being tasked to do more even when his contacts appeared to have dried up. Could he prevent the two nuclear missiles from being fired at Israel? In desperation he was taking numerous chances, getting shot at and even driving on the wrong side of the road to escape. This book is so exciting you won't want to put it down. There are enough suspense and even love parts to interest women readers and wild escape stories, horrible blow them up adventures, and spy details to interest men. It's a must read book!

This review was written for Damascus Countdown, The Twelfth Imam Series #3.
Once again the author captures the reader within the opening pages as David fights to stay alive and prevent a nuclear holocaust. Like the first two books in this three part series the action is fast paced and intense.

I love the main character David Shirazi! He's smart, passonate, and real. Like many he struggles to completely understand what it means to live this life of faith. But as he fights to stay alive in difficult situations he realizes that although his fate on earth is uncertain, he eternity is not, this fact drives his actions on many levels.

This book offers not only action and a love story, but some harsh realities of the times we live. There are a couple of secondary story lines I don't completely understand why the author included, other than to remind us bad things do happen to Christian people.

I definitely feel you want to read book one and two before reading three, you won't truly appreciate the story if you don't. If you enjoy action packed stories then this is a winning series. This story will also give you some insights to the end times beliefs of Islam, which I knew nothing about before reading this series.
