Rebecca5 Stars Out Of 5Currency of the HeartNovember 3, 2014RebeccaQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for Currency Of The Heart, Secrets On Sterling Street Series #1.This is a charming and delightful story. While it is set in late 1800's Denver, it has the feel of Any Small Town America.... lots of nostalgia here too. Loved the characters, and got to where I felt I was sitting at the table having coffee with them! I laughed, I cried, I sighed and fell in love... I didn't want this book to end and can't wait for the next one in this series.

Sloan is a business man who owns a manufacturing plant, a hotel and a ranch. Mable is the housekeeper at the ranch. Mable has a accident the day after Shaina home burns down so Sloan asked Shaina to come work for him at the ranch. To see what happens next, pick up a copy of the book. A lot of good secondary characters. One of the discussion question at the end of the book was if I hope any of the secondary characters will appear in books two and three, I certainly hope all the characters show up in the next books because I got very attached to the characters. This book is set in the 1800's, I always enjoy a good historical and Loree has written a great book. I did receive this book as a advance copy for a honest review. Recommend this book to everyone, it is full of emotion and some mystery also. I can't wait to read the next books in the series, because when I finished this book it left me wanting more.

From the back cover: Shaina Sterling hates the lie shes living, but feels she has no choice. Soon after the shocking death of her husband, the young widow learns how deeply entrenched in debt his lavish lifestyle has left her. To protect the legacy of his name, as well as her own reputation and stately home at Sterling Hall, Shaina secretly sells off valuable possessions, piece by piece, hoping her wealthy Denver friends never learn the truth.
Successful rancher Sloan Remington knows far more about Shaina than she realizes, but because of a promise he made to her husband as he lay dying, he guards her secrets as carefully as he looks after her safety. But soon, a series of additional misfortunes make Shaina beholden to himand threaten to expose a truth about himself that hes long worked hard to keep hidden.
Will trials and tragedies bring these two together? Or will secretsand the cost of exposing themdrive them apart forever?
Loree Lough has managed to put a lot of story into this story and all I can say is well done! Shaina is a very interesting person who doesnt want 1882 Denver society to know how destitute her late husband left her. Sloan is not only a hero but a really nice person who I wish was real and a friend of mine. These two need each other in business if they plan to prosper. They really need each other and draw closed when the epidemic hits and Sloan is involved with transportation and Shaina goes back to being a nurse. Ms. Lough has managed to weave the romance between Shaina and Sloan in such a way that it just captivates you. She makes you care for all the characters, secondary or not, and their journey. This is also just plain fun and interesting as well. Dont start this book late at night because it will cost you sleep.
Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from Whitaker House. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. Jenny5 Stars Out Of 5Currency of the HeartJanuary 22, 2015JennyThis review was written for Currency Of The Heart, Secrets On Sterling Street Series #1.Shaina Sterling is a widow that has lost almost everything to her name. Sloan is a rancher, who also owns a hotel and acquires a manufacturing plant from Shaina's father-in-law. James and Mable have been employees at the ranch since Sloan arrived there at a young age. Mable, more mother than housekeeper to Sloan, has an accident the day after Shaina's home is burned to the ground. Sloan asks Shaina to help take care of Mable and take over her responsibilities at the ranch. To see how the relationship between Shaina and Sloan develop you will need to preorder copy of the book.
I received this book as an advance email copy for an honest review. In the acknowledgments Loree gives thanks to a friend for the use of parts of one of his eulogies so it will not come as a surprise that there is a death in the story. I won't reveal who dies but say that it isn't the death that brought me to tears, but Loree's description of how Shaina tends to the person while preparing the body for burial that did. I also enjoyed how Loree stayed true to her character's personalities when the relationship between Shaina and Sloan is "started" so to speak. (I don't want to give it away.)

Robin5 Stars Out Of 5FantatisticJanuary 20, 2015RobinThis review was written for Currency Of The Heart, Secrets On Sterling Street Series #1.I loved this book. Loree weaves together a wonderful love story, historical information, and hero/heroine problem solving. Strong characters and vivid descriptions are Loree's signature. This one is so very hard to put down once you begin. I forced myself to read slowly to savor and be able to write a good review. I highly recommend this to current fans and most importantly to new readers of Loree Lough, too.
