I hesitantly read The Shack and enjoyed it. Because of that, I read Cross Roads. The further into the story I went..the harder it was to put the book down. It was beyond my expectations! I highly recommend Cross Roads! Incredible journey!

I was hesitant to read this book due to an unfavorable review read on this site. But, I am so glad I did! I loved The Shack and also loved Crossroads! It was a great read and I would highly recommend it to others!

I know Young's books are controversial and if I dug deep there might not be things I agree with but on the surface I love how he gives us a picture of God's love for us. But because of grief and those deep spiritual concepts I would only recommend for more mature teens and up.

Chapter 5 page 64 "Listen to my voice Jesus was stroking his hair " and says" every human being is a universe within themselves. yor mother and father (?) participated with God to create a soul who would never cease to exist.Your parents as cocreators supplied the stuff genetics and more uniquely combined to form a masterpiece not flaswless but still astounding ....you were conceived a living wonder who exploded into being a universe within a multiverse not isolated and disconnected but entangled and designed for community EVEN AS GOD IS COMMUNITY " This book is NOT a masterpiece and has terribly new age philosophy that is not christian. Search the references not a quote from scripture but the author puts plenty of new sayngs like this one into Jesus mouth. Most of the quotes are from Ralph Waldo Emerson, known for his transcendantalism views in his book Nature, A telling quote of Emerson's cited on page 208 "what lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us", which also gives a good idea of what Paul Young think is God's view but not what the Bible says which is in The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings. Obviously the author is far from christian, even though he may think so and claim to know Jesus which is certainly not the Jesus of the Bible. The claim that this is fiction is most appropriate and I would place it in the fairy tale category of new age novels not biblical christianity.

I liked The Shack a lot. I just cannot get into this book. I have read about 1/4 the way into it but had to put it down. It is just boring and it is taking the author forever to get to the point of the story. All background boring stuff and I just can't read this at this time.
