Regina Jennings
This was my first time reading Regina Jennings. Somebody posted it was available for free download, and I thought it looked interesting. Gave it a try this weekend and really enjoyed it. I am finally getting used to the Kindle app on my Samsung Galaxy Note II phone. I was hard-core hold the book, but I am seeing this benefit. Only need one hand to hold it, can read it dim or no light, no need to store books. However, if I really LOVE it (like ALL of Jen Turanos books), I would probably have to get the hard copy Also, cannot share my books with friends, so thats a bummer.
But, back to the book!
This book has lots of detail regarding both the old west, and the small towns. The author did a good job painting the pictures for my minds eye. I enjoyed the way she wove God into the story in a realistic way. She deals with domestic violence in an interesting way as well. It is slowly introduced and the facts are added over time so that you are not thrown into the middle of it in a harsh, hard-to-face way (some stories are just to gruesome and take the pleasure of reading away; at least for me and in my opinion). Anne is so interesting, and rough around the edges. She wears mens clothing most of the time, hiding her vulnerabilities. But eventually, she discovers a feminine/maternal side she did not know she had. Nicholas is very likeable, albeit nave in the beginning regarding his solicitors and how government / politics are sometimes corruptible. He has a gentle soul you want to get to know more. The characters develop nicely.
I read this book without reading anything more in the series and feel there is no problem reading it as a stand-alone story. I recommend it.
5 out of 5 stars
I offer my honest opinion for no compensation.

Cara PutmanIndianaAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Delightful historical readMay 6, 2014Cara PutmanIndianaAge: 35-44Gender: femaleMeets Expectations: 5This review was written for Caught in the Middle.I really enjoyed this latest title by Regina Jennings.
Caught in the Middle has a heroine who is deeply scarred from her husband's abuse. She's been hiding since escaping his abuse -- working as a buffalo hunter. Now she finds herself stuck in a town waiting for some deadbeat to collect his son.
Nick believes his life is blessed because God never allows anything to go wrong in his life. Then he reconnects with Anne, and begins to discover challenges. Will his faith be shaken as he tries to discover who he really is?
In this book the hero and heroine are characters that I enjoyed spending time with. Their challenges and questions are similar to those I've had. Where is God when things start going wrong? Does He still love me? Can He love me? Why would He take something from me that I've begun to love? Yet these questions were wrapped in a story I completely engaged in...with everything from laughter to tears. The cover alone is reason to buy the book, but the story within the cover is one that will engage readers who love Christian historical fiction with a side of humor. -
ZelmaMontanaAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Beautiful and heartwarmingMay 6, 2014ZelmaMontanaAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for Caught in the Middle. What a beautiful story. I love the progression of the characters. Anne is a woman with a haunting past. Something that has tarnished her views on men all together. She dresses like a man so she doesn't get the unwanted attention she so desperately hides from. She works for a company hunting buffalo. When the cook runs off she goes to find her. Only for her to skip town and leave her infant son in her care. What will Anne do now? She can't hunt with an infant. You see her grow into a woman who lets down her defenses and lets people in. Does she find a man who is the exception and not the rule? Will she integrate into society now that she has this child to care for. I recommend this book highly. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I have. Thanks Regina, I can't wait to read more of your books.

Mocha with LindaTexasAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Charming book with a powerful messageMay 2, 2014Mocha with LindaTexasAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for Caught in the Middle.Oh my, I love a book by Regina Jennings! I became a fan of hers with her first release in 2012 and she has only improved. (And what a darling cover! Apparently Jennings bought that dress and wore it to her book launch party.) With characters that walked right off the pages and into my heart, this novel was impossible to put down. Beyond providing a thoroughly satisfying story, however, Jennings has skillfully woven in a critical and authentic question of faith: what does trusting God really look like? Simultaneously entertaining and convicting, Caught in the Middle will stir your emotions and speak to your soul long after you turn the final page. An absolute must-read!
