I recieved a complimentary copy of this DVD from Tyndale House Publishers in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own. This is the first video I have reviewed and my children were more than happy to help. Paws and Tales by Chuck Swindoll is a very good children's video. Two different stories are included on the DVD and include The Good Shepherd and A Good Foundation. The Good Shepherd tells of two young boys anxious to help the Shepherd and be junior shepherds for the day. They soon realize that it is not as easy as it sounds. Children will discover how Jesus, our Good Shepherd cares for us. A Good Foundation teaches children why having a good foundation is an important part of living a godly life. C.J. and Staci discover this truth in the story as they build a clubhouse in an old rotten tree.

A great video for children! Paws and Tales has cute animation, two great stories, and wonderful Biblical truths. My three children loved watching this movie, and as soon as the DVD had ended they immediately wanted to watch it again. It is great to have DVD's that help children understand Biblical truths that we are trying to teach at home. Chuck Swindoll has provided a perfect tool for parents to use.

    My Review:

This is a wonderful cartoon for children! I espically loved the songs at the end! I couldn't stop singing them! It not only helps children understand how Jesus is the Good Shepeard, it also helps adults understand it in a cute way. The DVD if full two wonderful, valuable lessons that children will carry with them for the rest of the life. It is presented in a way that children will enjoy it and desire to watch it more. I recommend this DVD for any family that is trying to teach their children basic Biblical principles.

    Kayelee's Review:

Kayelee loved the DVD! She was excited to watch it and didn't want to watch anything but this! She learned that the Lord should be her foundation and all other ground is sinking sand. Although, at the time being she is to young to actually understand what that means, she will none-the-less re-learn it over and over again as the years go by and we continue to watch it. She also learned that Jesus is the Good Shepeard and desires for us not to get hurt so He watches over us and leads us away from trouble. However, if we do get in trouble He will always be there, never leaving or forsaking us. Kayelee found this DVD very entertaining and would love to watch the rest of the series.

This adorable video contains 2 features:

Episode #1 - The Good Shepherd.

    Episode #2 - A Good Foundation.

These programs teach many lessons in a fun, wholesome way that is excellent for children.

After each show, there is a full-length song which helps reinforce the lessons. They were charming and catchy! There are bonus features which include "music videos, activity sheets, games and helpful teaching resources."

Paws and Tales was created by beloved pastor Chuck Swindoll of Insight for Living. I have complete trust and faith in any project he comes up with. His books and sermons are precious and Biblical. I highly recommend his work!

Thanks to Tyndale House Publishers, we had a movie night last week, complete with popcorn, comfy pillows and blankets, and the new Paws & Tales: God Cares For You DVD. It is based on the Paws & Tales radio show, which the kids have listened to and enjoyed. They also loved this movie! It has two episodes on it. The first is The Good Shepherd, in which C.J. and Ned get to take care of sheep and discover that it is not as easy as it seems it would be. The second is A Good Foundation, in which they attempt to build a clubhouse and learn the importance of starting with a good foundation. The kids have watched it several times and it is now one of their favorites! Ned is their favorite character. Hubby and I really like how they are learning good biblical concepts while they are watching and think that this DVD does a better job of fitting this in with the story than a lot of other biblically based movies do. You can also pop the DVD into your computer and print off some coloring and activity sheets for the kids and some tip sheets with questions and Bible verses for discussion after the movie. I really appreciate having the tip sheets to be able to see if the kids are grasping the important concepts of the movie. The Paws & Tales site also has some fun games and activites that the kids enjoyed trying out. We can't wait for the next movie night with another fun episode of Paws and Tales!

In this children's DVD from Tyndale and Chuck Swindoll, children learn Biblical truths about God's love in gentle episodes. Joining a few bears, a fox, and even a beaver and a moose, children learn to work through problems such as shepherding sheep and building a treehouse, all while learning to trust and depend on God.

Being an Early Childhood instructor and childcare provider, I enjoyed this DVD. The lessons are light enough to teach Biblical truths while not intimidating children. That said, the situations are easy to relate to, and teach good lessons that all children need to hear, and be reminded of often. The length of each episode is just right - about 20 minutes each. There is also a good song in the middle that teaches about God being the good shepherd and watching out for his children. This served well to break up the two episodes. This DVD could be geared toward children ages 4 to 7, but younger children will enjoy the clear, colorful animation, and older children will find it humorous and short enough to not get bored.

Here is how my eight-year-old son responded to the DVD:

What did you learn from it? I learned how to be a good shepherd by looking out for things. I learned that we're supposed to have a good foundation. We get the foundation from Jesus.

Did you find it entertaining? Yes! It was funny.

Would you watch the rest of the series? Yes! It was really funny and it was a good show.

Who is your favorite character? All of them. They are all funny.

What would you change to make this DVD better? I would have made the song shorter.

So there you have it! If you have young children, or work with young children, you will benefit from this DVD.
