Thank you so much John and Stasi for the awesome indepth series Captivating. I got to facilitate it in our "Ladies Tea" Group at our church. I felt very inadequate teaching the older ladies from our church since i was a divorcee. But, I was obedient to what God called me to do and the outcome was tremendous. The ladies opened up and shared things they has never shared before. The Holy Spirit moved and I know that it helped me discover the "heart" that God gave to women. Would strongly recommend this series to any Ladies Group, young or old.

I also read "Wild at Heart". What and awesome book. Im now reading "Love and War".

I received this book as a gift, and was greatly anticipating what it would be like. I had seen it advertised in CBD, and had been wanting to look into it. I began reading it, and found myself needing to read between the lines of the writing in order to justify some of the statements (such as referring to the Proverbs 31 woman as an 'infamous icon' - see page 6).

I do not care for the melodramatic writing style or the frequent references to popular movies and celebrities (particularly the mention of having fantasies about Daniel Day-Lewis looking deep into your eyes - creepy). They ramble about fantasy movie examples and how they somehow relate to our feelings and/or purpose.

It is very repetitive and has some concerning ideas about how important we women are (the crowning moment in creation and so on). The glorification of women makes me uncomfortable. I think more emphasis of Christ working in us to create beauty, rather than the concept of "The essence of a woman is Beauty. She is meant to be the incarnation-our experience in human form-of a Captivating God" would be a major improvement.

Last thing: wish I could tell who was writing when.

Needs more scriptural backup to add weight to an otherwise fluffy, sentimental book. Over-rated.

Overall, I must say that this is a fantastic book. It's written in an interesting way which holds your attention, it addresses some basic needs and it has some unusual insights and advice. I am going to recommend it to our daughters, I believe that each one will find things in it to help them in their individual lives.

I gave it an overall 5 but a 4.5 would be more accurate. I encountered 2 negatives:

1)Maybe it's there and I missed it but the basic detail of sin is not addressed. I don't think it's just my opinion but, rather, that of God's, that this needs to be taken care of before ANY relationship, with God or man, can go forward!

2)I frequently did not know who was writing-John or Stasi. At times that was a rather frustrating thing as I considered the angle or attitude of who was saying what. And at one point, one sentence was written by him and the next sentence by her. Maybe it's just me, but it was a huge peeve! Perhaps that is a detail which could be corrected if another edition is published.

I think that every woman from 16 and above should read this book because it not only gives you insight to things that may be effecting you from your past and how to understand it better. It also gives you information on things that will come in your future and prepare you to handle in a Godly manner.

The spiritual benefits of this book are immeasurable. I learned so much about what God thinks of me. This has changed my entire view of myself and strengthened my relationship with christ. It tears down so many lies that the devil has made society to believe about the significance of femininity & creation of woman. It definitely challenges the deep rooted negative messages and opens/mends the heart.
