Warning...once you start reading this superb novel you will find it hard to put down. I have read several of Ms. Rivers books and this one is one of her best. Pastor Zeke finds an abandoned newborn under the bridge to Haven and takes her home. He and his wife raise her but when his wife dies when Abra is 4, he feels he can no longer take care of her. He has another couple adopt her but Abra is too young to understand. She struggles with feeling unwanted as she grows, and leaves home with a man who she thinks is the answer to her desires. Her life and struggles, as well as the story of the family she left who never give up on her or stop praying for her, is a captivating engrossing story extremely well told by Ms. Rivers. I highly recommend this book.

"Bridge To Haven," a novel written by Francine Rivers, is one that draws the reader in and holds you there for a long time after you are done reading.

Lena was born and deserted by her mother under a bridge where she was found by the town pastor. All of her life she had spent sheltered in Haven and just wanted an escape. Moving to Hollywood seemed the answer; however things are not always what we believe them to be.

Francine has done a wonderful job with this book. It is a very touching story of grace, love, temptation and moving on from mistakes. I found this book to be one that really brought the characters to life and really allowed the reader to become a part of the characters' lives. Lena's life has been a mystery, a disappointment and constantly wanting more, wanting something different. I felt as if I was on this journey with Lena every step of the way and I highly recommend this book.

No matter what we think about our lives we need to stop running and start listening. This wonderfully written story walks us through the life of Abra who is struggling with knowing where she belongs and initially chooses to refuse God's plan and teachings and eventually determines that God has great plans for her and has been with her always no matter what happens. This book helped me to see that no matter what I think or feel about God's choices or where my life is going He is always in control

Bridge to Haven was a modern day story of the prodigal son. Abra was abadoned at birth under a bridge and the local pastor, Pastor Zeke felt led to walk to the bridge that morning on his prayer walk. He and his wife took care of Abra along with their son Joshua. When the pastor's wife died the pastor took Abra to live with another local family when he realized he could not take care of her. Abra never felt like a true part of the family and when the chance came to take off with a wild handsome teenage boy she left. The next few years were very hard, the boy didn't really love her and turned her over to another man who promised to make her into a movie star. After years of hard work Abra couldn't take it any more and fled. Meanwhile Joshua searched for her off and on and no one ever forgot her. Joshua traveled to California to work and search and was in for the surprise of his life when the new waitress at the diner walked past. Joshua forgave her for her past and convinced her that the people she left behind back home would also forgive her and would welcome her back with open arms.

It was hard to put the book down-I loved Bridge to Haven!

Bridge to Haven is the latest book from Francine Rivers. Francine Rivers is by far my favorite Christian author. She knows how to write gripping novels that touch on serious issues. This was no excpetion. Abra is a women who was left beneath a bridge to be found by a Pastor. The pastor's family takes her in but when the wife dies he ends up doing what he thinks is best and giving her to another family to adopt. This is where her issues start. She never truly feels loved or accepted, which is mostly by her own doing. But when she becomes a teenager and a young man from Hollywood comes and dazzles her the trouble truly begins. God uses these circumstances to help her see the truth of His love.

This book is fabulous. I was crying frequently as happens in many of Francine's novels. She just understands human emotion so much! This book is truly fabulous. Don't be intimidated by the massive size of this novel. It is worth the time and you'll be finished before you know it.
