Easy read and very important message too! This is going on a lot more often in churches, then Christians want to admit. Time to wake up, trust the Lord's leading and get out and think outside of the pew or box.

After having gone through difficulties with my own church, this particular book piqued my interest. This is an excellent tool to help you determine whether or not your church is in danger of dying. Not only does it give you danger signals but provides steps to keep your church from dying. Very well written and informative. Highly recommended. Cheryl Long.

If you are struggling with ministry, or if you need some light at the end of the tunnel, or if you simply want to know that you're not alone in the church crisis that is being faced in this country then this is the book for you. Mr. Rainer does an excellent job at looking at many of the different issues within the church and what is causing churches to close. One that really stood out in my mind is the clicks that sincerely oppose any kind of change. "Change" for some in the church is the same as speaking a curse word from a pulpit, people will get angry, upset, and down right hateful when change happens. And when change for the betterment of the church is opposed then it hurts the church (and the leadership which he discusses), and if the leadership isn't careful it will kill the church. This and a whole lot more is packed into this small book. I highly recommend this book,as a minister I needed this little book, and I know others will enjoy it as well!

Though a pastor friend of ours wasn't in total agreement with what this book had to say, I couldn't find anything I disagreed with. Hopefully Dr. Rainer's book will save some churches that are heading down the path to closure and dissolution. Chapters are short, ending with a prayer and questions for the reader to reflect on. It's an easy read and well worth the brief time commitment, especially if your church could fit one of the scenario described in the book. It may even be some "preventative medicine"---to keep a church from starting down such a path.

When I first read this little book, I was struck at the valuable information given. I am using it with the church board of a struggling church in my community and the officers are excited about getting help for them to grow. Even members not on the board are reading it and getting excited. Now it has spread from our little church to other churches in the area. Raines really make us think about what is going on in our congregation.
