There is so much vying for our children's attention that when my son wanted to read this book, I was so thrilled! He first read A Boys Guide to Making Really Good Choices. He is a typical nine year old, but I am so thankful that he has a desire to learn more about following God.

I liked the fact that this book is written in terms boys can understand! Each chapter contains a story about a boy - and something he is going through. Maybe he is struggling with paying attention in school, obeying his parents, doing what he is supposed to verses what he wants to do. After initiating the chapter with a catchy practical story, Jim goes on to use an acrostic with the main idea in the chapter to further explain how God wants the boy to handle the situation.

For example: In the chapter on school, the acrostic is

See school as a training ground for life

    Check your attitude

    Homework is a priority

    Organize for success

Other stuff is part of school

    Listen to your parents

Each title has a section under it with an explanation, some Bible verses, thoughts and journal space. At the end of each chapter there is a Straight Talk for Your Heart and a Prayer.

I really feel like this book is an asset to any boy's life. There is so much wisdom they can apply and it can be read over and over. They can read it slowly taking a chapter or a letter at a time, or quickly, going back later for reference Our kids need more books like this!

This is what my nine year old had to say:

I liked the stories in the book about Dylan and his life. I felt like I could relate to some of them especially about being distracted during school thinking about my video games. I also learned lessons about obeying my parents and respecting them, doing good in school and working hard. It helped me with my prayers and I learned more about God.

I was blessed with this book by the publisher in exchange for my review. I only asked to give my honest opinion.

I have read every book by Elizabeth George who is the author's wife. I was hoping this book would be as good as hers have been. I was not disappointed! This is a great book for young boys, early teen years, and parents of said boys!

The subtitle is "Your Awesome Adventure With Jesus." I like how even the title makes you want to read more! This is a very simple and easy to read book. It is organized well and would be perfect for reading as a devotional with your son. If you choose to have him read it on his own, be sure to have some time to answer any questions he might have.

I liked the principles taught in this book. I thought they were very practical and easy to follow. From making sure your focus and attention is on what the Lord wants for your life to learning to show respect to your parents each principle is explained well. I gave this book 5/5 stars. I think it would be perfect for a young teenage boy to read as well as his parents.

I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading. I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

I like this because its current. The subjects are in line with real things that are going on today. Kids need to have positive things and values instilled that are in line with what we believe is important.
