Ed Welch is such a great communicator. He takes the Truth of God and through His Word shows that what AA and NA call a disease, shows that same progression of addiction to be sin as plainly described in Gods Word. I teach this in jail and the response has been extremely favorable. They all say noone told us it was a spiritaul battle. they never saw thier problem as sin.

They love Ed and relate to what He says.

It is also a huge eye opener to the church and her responsibility to not shun away from certain people or sins. but to embrace them knowing God Himself has equipped the church with the answers to the problems of life and sin and all kinds of addictions. i am trying to get other churchs to read this and teach this to themselves 1st then open thier hearts to all.

This book is not just a life changer that puts a bandaid on an addiction. but transforms a heart by the truth no longer leaving them to say Hi Im so and so and im an alcoholic. now they can say hi im so and so and I no longer live for me but am living for Jesus. i am being transformed by the renewing of my mind through Gods grace, mercy, and His word

The author presents the topic of addiction clearly, and moved me from a 12-Step-only (disease-oriented) understanding to a faith-based understanding (addiction as sin). I highly recommend this book to all who are serious in understanding addiction and what it's all about.

This book is right on. It completely brings hope back to our relationship and is a refreshing and hopefilled perspective. I already have to order another because I gave my copy away.

This is an absolutely powerful book on addictions. It is very insightful and offers the fundamental reasons why so many suffer and succumb to addictions of all kinds. A must read for those struggling with personal addictions, as well as those who love them!

The very best in biblical material relating to addictions. For years I searched for these kind of answers. The book is very similar to my own writing (which I began in trying to find some answer to the addiction that kept me in bondage for 20 years off and on). I've read the book three times and I am using many of it's excerpts for my book on addictions title "Turning to God from Idols".
