Austin Jennings was an internationally known senior archaeologist at the British School in Jerusalem. Austin requested Jon spend his Sabbatical year in Israel to assist him on a dig.
Austin and his crew were working at Ramah, birthplace of Samuel the Prophet. Ramah was known by a number of other names, including Rama, Ramatha, Ramathem and Arimathea.
While working at the site, they came across a sarcophagus buried in a cave. Next to it was a small jug containing a scroll. Inside was a skeleton and a burial cloth. The inscription on the sarcophagus indicated the skeleton was that of Joseph of Arimathea, who was a member of the Jewish Sanhedrin.
However, when they had experts examine the skeleton and the scroll, it appeared to be someone other than Josephsomeone much more famous.
Initially, the characters and the discovery was interesting to read about, but then the story seemed to drag. The romance between Jon and Shannon seemed forced, and included too many intimate details. If you enjoy Biblical history and archaeology, this is worth reading.
