CarolLebanon, PAAge: Over 65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Patricia Bradley's A Promise To ProtectApril 16, 2015CarolLebanon, PAAge: Over 65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Dr Leigh Somerall returns to Logan Point with her son. Ten
years ago she had been chased away by the former Sheriff Tom
Logan because his son was dating her. Tom Logan told her
to keep secret why she stopped dating his son or else he
would jail her brother for his offense.
Now Leigh is back to finish her obligation to work in the
hospital there to pay back her medical school loans. Her son
and Leigh are staying with her brother, Tony Jackson.
But something is not going right with her brother. The only
person she can turn to now is Acting Sheriff Ben Logan who
was her former flame. She contacts him to help Tony.
Tony requests Ben to meet him. Tony claims to have
information about the truth behind Bens fathers shooting.
Before they can meet, Ben finds Tony shot. With his dying
breath Tony put Ben into a position to vow to protect his sister.
Now the action begins.
The characters are vivid, well developed and interesting. The
story is fast paced with plenty of intrigue, suspense and mystery.
The tension was thick and well-sustained with quite a tangled
web of clues and secrets revealed and lies being uncovered.
The book covers deceit, betrayal, viciousness, greed, hatred
but is also filled with faith, friendship, trust, forgiveness and love.
A Promise to Protect is the second book in the Logan Point
series. It can be read as a stand alone with the reader able to
follow along without difficulty.
Thank you to book fun.org for this Book. My opinion is my own. -
Floyd JohnsonUpstate NYAge: 55-65Gender: male5 Stars Out Of 5Mississippi Murder Mystery - Small town sheriff, Old Love,March 31, 2015Floyd JohnsonUpstate NYAge: 55-65Gender: maleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5A rocky ride as a murderer roams the countryside for Leigh - who is holding a secret that she is unwilling to share with those who could help her the most. With the murderer and the secret hanging over her, she is sure the world as she knows it is coming to an end. Leigh would have to risk it all to find out how much change was going to take place.
The people seemed real, the story believable, and the mystery is complex enough to hold the readers attention for several hours as Sheriff Tom Logan, his deputies, and other law enforcement personnel seek to identify the person or people behind the rash of crimes that have hit Bradford County.
As the story progresses it makes clear that God does change people - people with deep hurts and scars. A lesson we all must learn.

ibjoy1953VirginiaAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Wow! Awesome!January 25, 2018ibjoy1953VirginiaAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Sometimes situations get so mixed up that its difficult to figure out whos who or whats been done! And this story is just like that. Ben is determined to find out the story behind his dads death, and was glad Tony has information that may help him. But now Tony has been shot dying and has ask Ben to take care of his wife Leigh, which will be no easy task either. It is difficult for Ben to protect Leigh because they are both headstrong and butt heads. Not to mention the secrets she is keeping from him. And what about his secrets? And then there is the attraction to each other!
I love books like this because I keep trying to figure out what is going on, and there are so many twists and turns that I cant. By the time I think I have it figured out, something else happens! The characters are really believable and realistic and your interested is sure kept throughout this book because you dont want to put it down! If you are looking for a fast pace, thriller for a little excitement and entertainment, this book would be for you! I encourage you to check it out.

Captured me from the beginning. My first book by Patricia Bradley and I have added her to my favorite author list. Glad it could be read as a stand alone book since I have not read Book one in this series. I loved her characters and her writing style.
Ben Logan is the acting sheriff in Bradford county when he receives a call from Leigh Somerall whom he hasn't seen in years but has not forgotten her. She asks Ben to protect her brother Tony. When Tony dies a few days later his job is now to protect Leigh and her son T.J. from her brother's killers. Now that she is back in Logan Point he does not want to lose her again. After ten years is there a chance their relationship will be revived? Will be able to protect her and her son and find the killers?
