A few magic days in Las Vegas land Ty Porter and Celia Park in a wedding chapel, madly in love and forever committed - until Celia wakes up the next morning and learns she was just a fling after a spat between Ty and the woman he loves. Disillusioned, she returns to Oregon and he to Texas, both hurt but neither getting around to filing for the divorce. Five years later, Ty is ready for forgiveness and hoping to finally marry his love Tawny, so he tracks Celia down, only to discover the surprise she kept from him - a precocious daughter named Addie. Fatherhood changes Ty's plans and desires, and he wants them near him. However, Celia is hardly ready to forgive him; she can scarcely trust him with her child, let alone risk her heart to him once more. Besides, even if she did feel something for him again, he is still waiting on Tawny to break up with her latest boyfriend and marry him. But what if God has different plans, plans that would heal hearts and bring old dreams to fruition?

While contemporary romances do not tend to land very high on my list of reading material, this novel impressed me with its solid story line. The characters and their relationships are well-developed, and they are likeable - imperfect, but enjoyable to meet. There is no unexpected danger or evil plot to drive them apart - just the two of them working through their hurts and reestablishing a relationship of sorts for the sake of their daughter. In a time when divorce seems so common, it is encouraging to read - even if it is fiction - about couples who go the extra mile [or ten] to work through their struggles.

I wasn't too sure about Ty initially - his extravagant displays of love seem almost like bribery until one takes into account his slightly overblown personality; everything about him is big and showy. His wealth is what he has to share, and by using it he can show support - even if it is generally behind Celia's too-proud-to-ask-for-help back. Most of all, he does it out of a giving heart, not to buy their love. His five years of quiet penance, living under a mantle of guilt and self-unforgiveness, adds a layer of genuineness to his showboat personality.

Just as Ty and Celia's relationship takes a lot of time and work to get back on track, so does their relationship with God. I love the parallels between the two; as Celia starts opening her heart a smidgeon to Ty again, so she also starts opening her heart again to God. It is slow going, and realizing she made some mistakes too makes for a difficult journey (in both relationships), but both are beautiful tales of reconciliation.

This is not the sort of book where the ending - the destination - is the most important part; it is the journey to that destination that makes it so worthwhile. A touching, engrossing read - 5 out of 5 stars!

Thank you Bethany House and NetGalley for a free e-copy of the novel to review; I was not required to make it positive, and all opinions are my own.

Here it is midnight and I should be turning off the computer, TV, and putting down my book but alas I am within 25 pages of finishing Meant to be Mine and there is no way I can put it down! This book is so awesome. Of course this would happen on Saturday night when I have to get up early and be ready for church. I must admit that I do not want this book to end. What a powerful book. Forgiveness and God's love are prevailing themes throughout the book. True forgiveness is not something we can do on our own, we must ask God to help us forgive those who have deeply hurt us. I am thankful for the powerful way Becky Wade weaves the Christian message throughout the book. This is a book I will want to read again.

Meant to Be Mine is a book that I have been eagerly anticipating since I first heard the premise for the story last year. When I found out that I was going to get a chance to be an early reader and be able to review this book, I was over the moon! And now that I have finished the story, what do I want to do? Well, I want to pick the book up and read it cover to cover again! It really is that good!

Meant to Be Mine is part of Becky Wade's series about the Porter family. The first book in the series in Undeniably Yours and is also a wonderful book. It was so fun to get to see Bo and Meg Porter make appearances in Meant to Be Mine. However, if you have not read Undeniably Yours, you will not have any problem reading Meant to Be Mine. It can definitely stand alone.

I am not exaggerating when I say that this is one of the best books that I have read this year. I could hardly set this book down once I started reading. What's not to love? A hasty marriage, a broken heart, a secret child, and that is only the beginning! Ty and Celia just wiggled their way into my heart and I had to know what happened next in the story! Meant to Be Mine is a story of forgiveness and of learning to trust again, wrapped up in a neat package that has plenty of heartache, new beginnings, and a romance that will please the most romantic at heart.

Both of these characters have a lot to forgive the other one for. Celia really struggles with forgiving Ty because she has been hurt so deeply and fears that she can't ever trust him again. He truly broke her heart. Ty has regretted the way he treated Celia ever since the fateful morning after their whirlwind wedding. His actions have impacted him through the years and he feels very unworthy of Celia.

If you love romance, Meant to Be Mine is a great choice and I highly recommend it. If I could give it more than five stars, I would!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author, through Bethany House Publishers, in exchange for an honest review, which I have given.

Celia Park has had a crush on handsome Ty Porter since high school. So when the two reunite as adults after one of Ty's bull riding competitions, she is thrilled that Ty finally seems to be returning her affections. After a swift romance and an impromptu trip to a wedding chapel in Las Vegas, Ty and Celia enjoy a wedding night of bliss- only to wake up the next morning to a different song. Admitting that he is actually in love with another woman and regrets his impulsive actions, Ty breaks Celia's heart and walks out of her life. Over five years later Ty seeks out Celia to finally divorce her, but he finds more than Celia in his search- he also learns that his one night as Celia's husband resulted in a daughter he never knew he had which changes everything. Ty wants to be part of their daughter's life, so he and Celia come to a mutual agreement to allow him back into their lives. Over the course of time, Ty begins having true feelings for Celia, but she staunchly resists his charms feeling that she could never trust him again- especially with her heart. The two must come face-to-face with past hurts, their own wrongdoings, temptation, and forgiveness as they look inwardly and to God for what the future may hold for them.

Wade puts a new twist on the traditional romance in Meant to Be Mine. Not only does their marriage begin in a very non-traditional way, but Ty's unexpected change of heart toward Celia and his desire to be a better man for a chance at love and a real marriage with her is a refreshing change to the all-too-typical "cut your losses and move on" mentality that would be expected of two people found in the circumstances Ty and Celia face. I loved that despite Celia's resistance, Ty persistently tried to prove himself trustworthy and continually wooed her. Their interactions with one another after Celia lets her defenses down and decides to give him a chance are electrically charged, funny, and tender. I truly wasn't sure if Celia would forgive Ty and build a future with him after what she thought was his final betrayal, but I'm happy to say that the ending exceeded my expectations!

I love this second book in the Porter Family series. Although if you missed the first book, this one can easily be read as a stand-alone novel. It is a wonderful story with complex characters that can easily be thought of as friends. The author is so adept at making the story real to readers that I felt like I was right there in this Christian fiction romance.

This gripping story pulls the reader in from the first line, Will you marry me? After that, it is a roller coaster ride all the way to the end.

I recommend this book to everyone who enjoys contemporary Christian romance. Do not miss Meant to Be Mine.
